Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 31st, 2011 Traffic Stop leads to Marijuana Seizure Goodbee, LA- Louisiana State Police Troop L troopers arrested a Florida man earlier today on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana following a traffic stop on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish. The traffic stop occurred this morning at 9:55 am on Interstate 12 approximately one mile east of the Tangipahoa Parish line after troopers observed a 1999 Oldsmobile sedan commit a traffic violation in the eastbound lanes. As troopers were speaking with the driver, Christopher Hires (W/M age 64) of Tallahassee, FL, a State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 3.2 pounds of Marijuana concealed in a suitcase in the back seat. Hires was placed under arrest and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail without incident.
