LSP Investigations lead to Narcotics Seizures and Arrests Troop L- Troopers working across the Troop L region made several arrests this past week disrupting the trafficking and distribution of narcotics across the community. On December 5th, 2011, troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Narcotics Unit arrested 60 year old Franklinton resident Nelson Kennedy following a joint investigation with the Bogalusa Police Department. Through the investigation, detectives identified Kennedy as a suspect in the distribution of pharmaceutical grade controlled dangerous substances in the Washington Parish area and obtained an arrest warrant. Upon execution of the arrest warrant, Kennedy was found to be in possession of 20 dosage units of Oxycodone without a valid prescription. Kennedy was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on charges of Distribution of a Schedule II CDS and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS.
On December 7th, 2011, troopers arrested two Florida residents after the discovery of 4 pounds of Marijuana following a traffic stop on the Interstate 12 eastbound on ramp from LA 1077. Upon observing a traffic violation, troopers stopped the 2005 Mazda-3 and made contact with the driver, Timothy Hoover (W/M age 22) of Tallahassee, FL. During the course of the traffic stop, Hoover denied consent to search the vehicle at which time a LSP Narcotics K-9 was dispatched to the stop location. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle leading to the discovery of the Marijuana. Hoover and passenger in the Mazda, Nelson Cenevil (B/M age 27) of Winterhaven, FL, were taken into custody and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS.
