Louisiana State Police make Multiple Arrests in Southeast Louisiana

On November 1, 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop C conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 Toyota Camry following a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Byron D. Johns (B/M, age 25) of Chalmette, LA. During an interview of Johns, he gave several conflicting statements and troopers received a written consent to search the vehicle. During the search, troopers seized approximately 610 DVD’s and CD’s that contained pirated, bootlegged and/or counterfeit movies and music. Troopers also found that the vehicle was rented and Johns was not the renter, nor was he authorized to operate the vehicle. Johns was booked into the Lafourche Parish Jail and charged with Following Too Close, Suspended Driver’s License, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Sound Production without Consent Prohibited and Rental or Sale of Improperly Labeled Articles Prohibited.

On November 2, 2011, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested five people after observing suspicious behavior in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Hammond, LA. Troopers seized nearly nine (9) pounds of cocaine and two handguns from the arrested subjects. They were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. The arrested subjects are listed below:

Franco Vasquez (H/M, age 41) of Covington, LA for Distribution of Cocaine

Jander Granados (H/M, age 34) of Covington, LA for Distribution of Cocaine

Dennis Nelson (B/M, age 33) of Ponchatoula, LA for Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Distribution of Cocaine

Miguel Chester (B/M, age 33) of Ponchatoula, LA for Distribution of Cocaine

Frank Johnson (B/M, age 21) of Ponchatoula, LA for Distribution of Cocaine
