Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 30, 2008 Franklinton Resident Killed in Crash on LA 16 in Washington Parish Today at 7:30 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop-L investigated a one-vehicle crash on LA 16, 1.2 miles east of LA 450 at milepost 79.9 in Washington Parish. The crash involved Mr. Millard K. Gatewood, who was employed by the Washington Parish District Attorneys Office. A 1997 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Assistant District Attorney Millard K. Gatewood (W/M/Age 49) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling east on LA 16. The Jeep Cherokee for an unknown reason traveled off the roadway to the right for approximately 113 feet, before impacting a large tree. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, Millard K. Gatewood of Franklinton, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. No alcohol/drugs suspected, however, blood was obtained by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office to be analyzed.
