Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Troopers Arrest Claimant for Falsifying an Insurance Claim On May 28, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Insurance Fraud Troopers arrested a Baton Rouge Property owner for insurance fraud. The arrest was in relation to a burglary, which occurred in 2006 at a residence on Hooper Road in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Milton Day (Male/Age 49) of Baton Rouge, LA, filed a claim with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company indicating he loss property due to a home burglary. Mr. Day was required to produce documentation showing the value of the items taken during the burglary. In response to the request, Mr. Day provided several receipts to substantiate his claim. The receipts indicated the value of the items stolen totaled more than $5,000 dollars. Upon closer review, Liberty Mutual officials determined that Mr. Day altered the receipts and inflated the value of the items stolen by more than $4,000 dollars. On May 28, 2008, the 19th Judicial District issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Day for Insurance Fraud. On, May 29, 2008, Mr. Day turned himself in to authorities at the East Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center and was booked on the charge of Insurance Fraud.
