Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 27, 2008 Franklinton Resident Killed in Crash on LA 424 in Washington Parish On September 26, 2008 at 6:00 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop-L investigated a one-vehicle crash on LA 424 at milepost 5.6 in Washington Parish. A 2006 Nissan pickup, driven by Jim Ladner (W/M/Age 17) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling north on LA 424. The driver of the Nissan pickup approached a right hand curve and failed to maintain control of his vehicle. The pickup traveled off the roadway to the left, through a ditch and struck a culvert. After striking the culvert, the vehicle became airborne, impacted the ditch and began flipping end-over-end several times. The Nissan pickup came to final rest on its passenger side. At some point during the crash, the driver was ejected due to not being restrained. The driver of the Nissan pickup, Jim Ladner of Franklinton, LA, was transported to Riverside Medical Center by Advanced EMS to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Riverside Medical Center Jim Ladner was pronounced dead by Dr. Payne, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Blood was obtained by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office to be analyzed. Advanced EMS also took the passenger, a juvenile to Riverside Medical Center to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. The passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
