Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 24, 2008 Fatal Crash on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish On Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 10:06 am, Louisiana State Police, Troop L investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12 at milepost 80.9 in Slidell. The crash involved a 2000 Acura four door sedan driven by Mr. Duarte Franco (W/M, 34 yrs), of Humble, Texas. The Acura was traveling eastbound on I-12 when for an unknown reason the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then entered the right shoulder of I-12 where it began to rotate clockwise striking a tree with its rear. As a result of the crash the driver, Franco suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Driver impairment is unknown at this time (results pending a toxicology examination). Speed is considered a factor in the crash. Trooper McAllister is continuing his investigation.
