Pearl River Resident Killed in St. Tammany Parish Fatal Crash

Today, August 14, 2008 at 7:30 AM, Louisiana State Police, Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 41, two tenths south of LA 36 at milepost 4.9. A 1994 Ford pickup, driven by Loretta L. Crawford (W/F/Age 41) of Pearl River, LA, was traveling north on LA 41 near LA 36. A 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Krislee Dier (W/F/Age 45) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling on LA 41 headed south. For an unknown reason the Ford pickup crossed onto and over the center line of the roadway and the driver of the PT Cruiser steered to the right in an attempt to avoid being struck. The Ford pickup impacted the Chrysler PT Cruiser head-on in the southbound lane of travel.

The driver of the 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Krislee Dier of Franklinton, LA, was transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Air Med to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash; however, blood was obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The passenger, Jared Dier (W/M/Age 18) of Franklinton, LA, was transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The driver of the 1994 Ford pickup, Loretta Crawford of Pearl River, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Angel Galloway of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/Drugs usage is unknown at this time; blood was obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
