Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 4, 2008 Florida Resident Killed in Crash on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish Today at 1:10 AM, Louisiana State Police, Troop-L investigated a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 westbound at milepost 79.0 in St. Tammany Parish. A 2002 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Joshua G. Miller (W/M/Age 21) of Fort Meyers, FL, was traveling west on Interstate 12 in the right lane. The Chevrolet pickup veered off the roadway to the right and struck an unoccupied 2003 Dodge pickup that was parked on the right shoulder. After impact, the Dodge pickup rotated clockwise and came to rest facing west off the right shoulder. The Chevrolet also rotated clockwise, overturned onto its left side and came to rest facing north. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, Joshua G. Miller of Fort Meyers, FL, was transported to Louisiana Heart Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and shall be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Passenger one, Shannon Miller (W/F/Age 20) of Fort Meyers, FL, was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Tammany Parish Coroner Michael Rodrigue, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Passengers two and three are both juveniles and were transported to the Louisiana Heart Hospital to receive medical treatment for moderate injuries. The occupants did not utilize vehicle restraints at the time of the crash.
