| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: February 7, 2009 Driver Killed in Crash on LA 438 in Washington Parish Yesterday, shortly after 8:00 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA 438, west of Wesley Ray Road at milepost 32.7 in Washington Parish. At 8:05 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of an Angie resident. A 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by Donald B. McKenzie (W/M/Age 54) of Angie, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 438. McKenzie failed to negotiate a northeast curve on the roadway, crossed the centerline and traveled partially onto the westbound lane. The driver of the Altima, abruptly steered back onto the eastbound lane of travel, which caused the Nissan to rotate clockwise and travel off the roadway to the right. As the vehicle traveled off the roadway, the rear wheel made impact with a buried pipe and caused the Nissan to roll over several times. At some point during the roll over, the unrestrained driver was ejected out of the vehicle. Once ejected, the driver was impacted by the vehicle. The driver of the Nissan Altima, Donald B. McKenzie, of Angie, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Archie Seal of the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol/drugs use is suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
