Edmonson, Superintendent February 11, 2009 Troop L Seeks Assistance with LA 22 Hit and Run Fatality At 6:20 PM, on February 11, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a Hit and Run crash that resulted in the death of a Ponchatoula resident. The crash occurred on LA 22 at the intersection of CC Road, milepost 61.0 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2002 Saturn four door, driven by Guy B. Hennessey Jr. (W/M/Age 45) of Ponchatoula, LA, was traveling southbound on CC Road, toward LA 22. Hennessey failed to stop his vehicle for a stop sign at the intersection, traveling across LA 22 and into a ditch on the south side of the roadway. Hennessey exited his vehicle and walked onto the roadway trying to stop oncoming vehicles for help. During this time, Hennessey was struck by a light colored pickup traveling in the westbound lane of LA 22. Guy, B. Hennessey Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene by Steve Wells of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/Drug involvement is unknown at this time, blood results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Witnesses and evidence at the scene enabled Troopers to determine the cause of the fatal crash. The damage to the pickup will be to the front cap. The investigation to identify the driver of the light colored pickup is ongoing. Tpr. Fred Martinell is handling the investigation.
