Driver Killed in Crash on LA 1249 in Tangipahoa Parish



At 9:50 PM, on February 11, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Ponchatoula resident. The crash occurred on LA 1249 at the intersection of LA 22, milepost 0.0 in Tangipahoa Parish.

A 1986 Ford pickup, driven by Charles E. Morse (W/M/Age 72) of Ponchatoula, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 1249, toward LA 22. Morse failed to stop his vehicle at the intersection, traveling across LA 22 and into a ditch, impacting an embankment on the south side of the roadway.

Charles E. Morse was pronounced dead at the scene by Steve Wells of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/Drug involvement is suspected in the crash, blood results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
