Edmonson, Superintendent February 11, 2009 Driver Killed in Crash on LA 10 in Tangipahoa Parish At 11:32 PM, on February 11, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Roseland resident. The crash occurred on LA 10 at milepost 204.2 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 1996 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Chevelle A Robinson (B/M/Age 31) of Roseland, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 10. Robinson failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of his vehicle and it began to rotate counter clockwise. The pickup then traveled off the roadway to the right, struck a driveway and became airborne for approximately 51 feet. The Chevrolet pickup then impacted a large tree with its right side causing it to flip over and come to rest upside down. While the pickup was flipping, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Chevelle Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene by Steve Wells of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol involvement is suspected in the crash, blood results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The passenger, Derek A. Brooks (B/M/Age 36) of New Orleans, LA, was transported to North Oaks Medical Center by Acadian Air-Med to receive medical treatment for moderate injuries.
