Three Killed in Crash on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish

Yesterday, shortly after 7:00 PM in the evening, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12, one mile east of LA 21 at milepost 60.8 in St. Tammany Parish.

A 2003 Nissan Altima, driven by Monica Cohn (B/F/age 34) of Hammond, LA, was traveling westbound on Interstate 12 in the left lane. The Nissan Altima began to travel onto the right lane, when the driver abruptly overcorrected to the left and lost control of her vehicle. The Altima traveled into the grass median and onto the eastbound lanes of Interstate 12, directly into the path of a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Vincent R. Jeanfreau (W/M/age 33) of Lacombe, LA, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 12. After impact, both vehicles traveled off the right side of the roadway and the Chevrolet Tahoe began to flip. As the Chevrolet Tahoe began to flip a passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, Monica Cohn, of Hammond, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Nick Calotta of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/drug use is not suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The passenger, Hollis E. Ard Jr. (B/M/age 47) of Gretna, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Nick Calotta of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, Vincent R. Jeanfreau, of Lacombe, LA, was transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Ambulance, to receive medical treatment for moderate injuries. Alcohol/drug use is not suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Passenger one, Amanda A. Jeanfreau (W/F/age 27) of Lacombe, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Nick Calotta of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Passenger two and three are juveniles and were both transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for their injuries.
