Troop L Seeks Assistance in Hit and Run Fatal on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish

On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at approximately 9:40 AM, Louisiana State Troopers investigated a hit and run fatality crash in St. Tammany Parish, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Interstate 12 westbound onramp from LA 434 at milepost 74.

The crash occurred when a brown/tan, late model Ford Bronco driven by a white male, was traveling on the westbound onramp and struck a white female with the vehicle. After impact, the pedestrian came to rest in the grass on the right side of the roadway. The Ford Bronco continued onto Interstate 12 westbound, crossed the grass median and fled the scene headed eastbound on Interstate 12. Witnesses and evidence at the scene enabled troopers to determine the cause of the fatal crash.

The unknown pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. She had the word “eternal” tattooed on her inner right forearm. She is believed to be in her early thirties, 5’-3” tall, 110 pounds, small build with dark hair.

If anyone has information, which would help the Louisiana State Police identify the brown/tan Ford Bronco or its driver or if anyone has information about the pedestrian, please contact Troop L at (985)893-6250.
