| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 25, 2008 Thanksgiving “C.A.RE.” and Buckle Up America Holiday Enforcement As a busy Thanksgiving Day and weekend approaches, Troop L wants to remind motorists to drive carefully this holiday weekend so that everyone can arrive safely to their destinations. We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that this holiday means lots of family gatherings, parties, and shopping, which increases traffic on our roadways. Unfortunately, increased holiday traffic also means increased crashes and fatalities. The Louisiana State Police will team up with thousands of law enforcement agencies across Louisiana and the United States in an effort to reduce traffic fatalities on our highways. This Thanksgiving holiday, troopers will be focusing on motorists not wearing seat belts, unrestrained children in vehicles, and any aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding, following too close, and driving while intoxicated. Beginning on November 26, through midnight November 30, Troopers will participate in operation C.A.R.E (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) and Buckle Up America, two nationwide programs that involves all State Police and State Patrol agencies in an effort to reduce impaired driving, deaths, and injuries. The public can expect to see an increase in the number of troopers patrolling the highways and violations, which affect public safety, will not be tolerated. To report aggressive drivers or if you are in need of assistance, you may dial *LSP (*577) from your cellular phone to reach the State Police office closest to you. For information on road construction or detours, please use the motorist information system and dial “511” or visit our website at www.lsp.org. Help us save hundreds of lives each year!!!! Wear your Seat Belt, Properly Restrain Children and Don’t Drink and Drive.--It is really that simple!!
