| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 15, 2009 Wade S. Taylor Arrested for the Exploitation of the Infirmed On Tuesday, January 13, 2009, South District Detectives with the Louisiana State Police arrested Wade S. Taylor (W/M/Age 30) of Tickfaw, LA. Taylor turned himself in to the South District Detectives, without incident, on the following charges of Exploitation of the Infirmed (R.S.14:93.4/Felony), Theft of Assets of an Aged or Disabled Person (R.S.14:67.21/Felony) and an Outstanding Fugitive Warrant from Gautier, Mississippi. The arrest was the result of a complaint received from a family member on February 11, 2008, in reference to the theft and alleged exploitation of the infirmed. The complaint stated that Taylor had allegedly stolen financial assets from his infirmed elderly grandmother by means of power of attorney. As the investigation continued, it revealed that Taylor had care, custody and control of his grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and staying at his home in Tangipahoa Parish. During this period, Taylor had power of attorney issued to him and proceeded to sell off his grandmother’s assets for his own personal gain. Records show that Taylor diverted over $173,000 of his grandmother’s money to purchase a new vehicle and to run his personal car wash business in Tangipahoa Parish. Concluding the Louisiana State Police investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Wade S. Taylor. Taylor turned himself in to South District Detectives and was interviewed where he confessed to his criminal acts. Taylor was then placed under arrest and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
