Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 2, 2008 Pine Grove Man Killed in St. Helena Parish Crash At 6:35 PM, on July 2, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Pine Grove resident. The crash occurred on LA 449 at milepost 23.0 in St. Helena Parish. A 1997 GMC pickup, driven by Gary W. McNabb (W/M/Age 43) of Pine Grove, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 449. While traveling south on LA 449, the driver of the GMC pickup slowed suddenly, the pickup began to rotate in a clockwise motion. The pickup traveled off the roadway to the right and began to flip. During the rollover, Gary McNabb was ejected from his vehicle. The pickup came to final rest upright, facing in a northeast direction. Gary W. McNabb of Pine Grove, LA, was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital by Acadian Air Med to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Gary W. McNabb was pronounced dead by Dr. Thomas Jacome, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol involvement is suspected in the crash; blood was obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
