| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE October 9, 2017 ***UPDATE*** Troopers have identified the deceased driver as 49 year old Elsie Bourgeois of Slidell. This crash remains under investigation. TROOP A NEWS RELEASE October 7, 2017 Troopers Work to Identify Driver after Fiery Crash in Ascension Parish Sorrento – Shortly before 10:00 pm on October 6, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 10 eastbound east of LA 22 in Ascension Parish. Troopers are currently working to identify the driver. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10. For unknown reasons, the driver veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then burst into flames with the driver still inside. The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.
