| NEWS RELEASE Troop L **UPDATE** ***UPDATE*** Notification has been made to the next of kin. The pedestrian was identified as Edward Lewis (W/M/Age 53) of Chalmette, LA. Pedestrian Killed on US 190 in St. Tammany Parish April 8, 2008 At 11:45 PM, on April 7, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on US 190 at milepost 903.5 in St. Tammany Parish. A 2002 GMC pickup, driven by Todd McConnell (W/M/Age 45) of Slidell, LA, was traveling westbound on US 190 in the right lane. The pedestrian was walking along US 190 on the south side of the roadway. For an unknown reason the pedestrian traveled across US 190 to the north side of the roadway and then turned around and began walking back across the roadway. As the pedestrian entered into the westbound lane of travel, he was struck by the right side mirror of the GMC pickup. . The pedestrian was transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for the injuries sustained in the crash. Once at Slidell Memorial Hospital the pedestrian was pronounced dead by Dr. Lirette, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/Drug involvement is unknown; however, blood results are pending. The driver of the 2002 GMC pickup, Todd McConnell was not injured in the crash. No alcohol detected and no citations issued. Driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
