At 4:45 AM, on April 12, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of the driver. The crash occurred on LA 37 at milepost 31.9 in St. Helena Parish.

A 1997 Honda Civic, driven by James Taylor (W/M/Age 34) of Pride, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 37. While traveling south on LA 37 the driver of the Honda Civic failed to negotiate a curve to the right, and the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the left. The Driver attempted to regain control of his vehicle, but the Civic over turned onto its roof and came to final rest.

The driver of the Honda Civic, James Taylor of Pride, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Varnado of the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol involvement is suspected; blood was obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
