| Troop L - NEWS RELEASE May 1, 2008 At 5:35 PM, on April 30, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a vehicle crash that resulted in the death of the driver. The crash occurred on Interstate 55 northbound at milepost 45.8 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2006 Kenworth, driven by Robert M. Proctor (W/M/Age 65) of Chambersburg, PA, was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 in the left lane. For an unknown reason, the Kenworth drifted off the left side of the roadway and into the median. The vehicle then crossed the median, entering into the southbound lanes of travel. The Kenworth then veered to the right, crossed the median again and came back out into the northbound lanes. The vehicle crossed the northbound lanes and the right shoulder and went off the roadway to the right and impacted several trees and continued several feet into the tree line. The driver was not restrained by a seat belt and was partially ejected during the crash. The driver of the Kenworth, Robert M. Proctor of Chambersburg, PA, was transported to Hood Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Hood Hospital, Robert Proctor was pronounced dead by Dr. Krupkin due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol not suspected to be a factor in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Contact Information: Tfc.
