| NEWS RELEASE LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: March 20th, 2008 Fatal Crash Involving a Pedestrian on I-10 in St. Tammany On Thursday, March 20th, 2008 at 8:05 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop L responded to a fatal crash on I-10 westbound at milepost # 262.3. The crash involved a 2007 International tractor trailer driven by Mr. Jerry Spruill, of Florence Mississippi and a pedestrian. The International was traveling westbound on I-10 in the right lane at which time it came upon the pedestrian who was standing in the right lane. The driver of the International attempted to slow and swerve to the left, but was unable to do so because of other vehicles traveling in the lane next to him. It was at this time that the pedestrian was struck by the front of the International. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending proper notification, was transported to Northshore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No charges were filed against the driver of the International. Neither driver impairment or driver violations are factors in the crash. Impairment is unknown at this time on part of the pedestrian.
