| NEWS RELEASE Troop L February 11, 2008 At 6:30 PM, on February 11, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Loranger resident. The crash occurred on LA 445 at milepost 14.0 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2001 Mitsubishi four door, driven by Carmen Zuniga (W/F/Age 18) of Hammond, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 445. A 2002 Honda four door, driven by Grady King Jr. (W/M/Age 30) of Husser, LA, was traveling northbound on LA 445. For unknown reasons the Mitsubishi traveled approximately 65 feet partially off the right side of the roadway and then overcorrected to the left. The Mitsubishi began to rotate counterclockwise while re-entering the roadway, it then crossed the center line and impacted the Honda in the right rear. After impact both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. The driver of the Honda, Grady King of Husser, LA, was transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. Alcohol/Drugs not suspected; however, blood samples were obtained for analysis. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Mitsubishi, Carmen Zuniga of Hammond, LA, was transported to St. Tammany Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. Alcohol/Drugs not suspected; however, blood samples were obtained for analysis. Upon release from the hospital Carmen Zuniga will be booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on the following charges; Negligent Homicide (R.S.14:32) and Careless Operation (R.S.32:58). The passenger, Tiffany N. Thomas (W/F/Age 17) of Loranger, LA, was transported to North Oaks Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at North Oaks Hospital Tiffany Thomas was pronounced dead by Dr. Haili of North Oaks Hospital, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Seat belts were worn by both occupants at the time of the crash. Contact Information: Tfc.
