Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 21, 2008 Bogalusa Resident Killed in Washington Parish Fatal Crash On Friday, June 20, 2008 at 8:30 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatal crash on LA 439 at milepost 3.5 in Washington Parish. The crash involved a 2001 Ford four door, driven by Brenton Kent (W/M/Age 19) of Sun, LA. The Ford was traveling south on LA 439, when the driver ran off the right side of the roadway. Brenton Kent lost control of his vehicle and it traveled approximately 425 feet, overturning onto its roof. The driver of the Ford four door, Brenton Kent of Sun, LA, was not injured in the crash. Brenton Kent was transported and booked into the Washington Parish Jail on the following charges; Reckless Operation (R.S.14:99), Driving While Intoxicated (R.S.14:98) second offense and Vehicular Homicide (R.S.14:32.1). The Passenger, Bruce Cooper (W/M/Age 27) of Bogalusa, LA, was transported to Riverside Medical Center by Advanced EMS to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Riverside Medical Center, Bruce Cooper was pronounced dead, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Seat belts were worn by all occupants in the vehicle.
