Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 28, 2008 Westwego Man Killed in Tangipahoa Parish Crash At 8:55 PM, on June 27, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Westwego resident. The crash occurred on LA 10 just west of LA 1054 at milepost 207.0 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 1994 Geo Prism, driven by Edgar T. Ockman (W/M/Age 55) of Westwego, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 10. While traveling east on LA 10, the driver of the Geo Prism failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right. The Prism struck a DOTD sign, hitting an embankment and then impacted a concrete culvert. The driver of the Geo Prism, Edgar T. Ockman, of Westwego LA, was transported to Hood Hospital by Acadian Ambulance to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Hood Hospital, Edgar T. Ockman was pronounced dead by Dr. Javiad Wani, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol involvement is suspected; blood was obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
