Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 2, 2008 Lacombe Man Killed in St. Tammany Parish Crash At 11:49 AM, on July 2, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Lacombe resident. The crash occurred on LA 36 at milepost 10.4 in St. Tammany Parish. A 1976 Jeep, driven by Nicholas R. Gerard (W/M/Age 29) of Lacombe, LA, was traveling westbound on LA 36. While traveling west on LA 36, the driver of the Jeep failed to maintain control of his vehicle and traveled off the roadway to the right. The driver then overcorrected to the left, then right and to the left again in an attempt to regain control of his vehicle. While trying to regain control the vehicle overturned onto its left side and began to flip. As the vehicle was flipping, the driver was ejected from the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep, Nicholas R. Gerard, of Lacombe, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol involvement is not suspected; blood was obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
