Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 22, 2008 On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 4:17 PM, the Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit, during an ongoing investigation concerning Jerry Singletary (W/M/Age 39) of Bogalusa, LA, in regards to disability fraud. Through the investigation, it was discovered that an outstanding warrant was issued by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for the arrest of Jerry Singletary. The charges in the warrant were as follows, LRS 14:30.1A3 (Second Degree Murder by Distribution of Sch. II CDS) and LRS 40:967A (Distribution of Methadone). The Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit found that Singletary was residing at 12683 Mizell Loop Rd., Bogalusa, LA. Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives determined that Singletary did reside at that location and learned of his current location. Surveillance was established at the location that Singletary was believed to be, Singletary and his father were observed leaving and getting into a vehicle. They maintained surveillance of the vehicle and contacted the sheriff's office to provide marked units for a traffic stop. Two Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office units responded and stopped the vehicle Westbound on La 60, west of Bogalusa. Singletary was informed of the outstanding warrants for his arrest. Jerry Singletary was placed under arrest without incident and was transported to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail, where he was charged and booked as a fugitive from Jefferson Parish on the above two charges.
