| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 31, 2008 Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled Louisiana State Police Troop L announced that a DWI Checkpoint will be held tonight, May 31, 2008. The DWI Checkpoint will be conducted on LA 16 West of Interstate 55 at Bennett Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The DWI Checkpoint will begin at approximately 10 P.M. and will be manned by Louisiana State Police Troop L and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office. Every year on the highways across the state of Louisiana, numerous people are killed or seriously injured because of an impaired driver. Sobriety checkpoints are an effective enforcement tool because they serve as a deterrent to impaired and drunken driving. The task of stopping these impaired drivers is a joint effort of law enforcement agencies and the public. We need the public to assist by not allowing someone to leave their house as an impaired driver and reporting possible impaired drivers to their local police stations. The State Police number to call is *LSP or (*577) on your cell phone. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment! Drive Impaired Get Arrested" & Remember, the only designated driver is the person who has had NO ALCOHOL. Contact Information: Tfc.
