Louisiana State Police and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Team Up to Catch Armed Robbers

On Monday, June 2, 2008 at 5:20 PM, Louisiana State Police, Troop L received a call from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s regarding a vehicle and subjects involved in an armed robbery of Advance America in Mandeville, LA. Once troopers had the necessary information, they began to search our local roadways for the armed robbers. A trooper observed two vehicles matching the description on Interstate 12 near LA 21. After making a traffic stop on one of the suspected vehicles, it was determined that neither the vehicle nor the occupants were the ones being sought after. Another trooper was patrolling further west on Interstate 12, when he observed the second vehicle. The trooper stopped the second vehicle on the Interstate 12 westbound off ramp to LA 445. During the stop, it was determined that the vehicle and the occupants were the ones involved in the armed robbery. The driver, Tyrone R. Morris (B/M/Age 24) of College Park, GA, and passenger, Willard P. Brumfield (B/M/Age 30) of Hammond, LA, were arrested without further incident. During the investigation, a gun was located on the floorboard of the vehicle as well as a bank deposit cash bag. A large amount of cash was recovered from the suspects. The suspects were transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and booked by the Louisiana State Police as fugitives for R.S. 14:64 (Armed Robbery). The suspects were turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office where they transported back to St. Tammany Parish.
