Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Driver Dies After Vehicle Strikes Utility Pole At 3:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop A began investigating a fatal crash. The crash occurred at the intersection of US Hwy 61 and Germany Road in Ascension Parish. A Hyundai Accent traveled north on US Hwy 61 in the right lane. As the Hyundai approached Germany Road, the driver noticed a vehicle traveling at a slower speed. Attempting to avoid a collision, the driver steered to the right and the Hyundai traveled off the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the Hyundai went through a ditch and struck a utility pole. The driver, William J. Miller, Jr. (Male/Age 28) of Baton Rouge, LA, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office. Mr. Miller was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash. For more information contact: S/T Johnnie L.
