Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 14, 2009 Slidell Woman Killed in Crash on US 190 Business in St. Tammany Parish Yesterday, shortly before 7:30 PM in the evening, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 190 Business at the intersection of Lindberg Dr. in St. Tammany Parish. A 1999 Ford Mustang, driven by Marsha Scovotta (W/F/age 43) of Slidell, LA, was traveling northbound on Lindberg Dr. A 2006 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Rafael Bon Jr. (W/M/age 44) of Slidell, LA, was traveling eastbound on US 190 Business in the left lane. Scovotta failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Lindberg Dr. and US 190 Business onto the eastbound lanes. The Chevrolet pickup impacted the driver’s side of the Ford Mustang. After impact, both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lanes of US 190 Business. The driver of the Ford Mustang, Marsha Scovotto, of Slidell, LA, was transported to Northshore Hospital by Acadian Ambulance, to receive medical treatment for severe injuries. Once at Northshore Hospital, Scovotto was pronounced dead by Dr. Curran, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is suspected for Scovotto; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The passenger, Peter Brown (W/M/age 31) of Slidell, LA, was transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance, to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, Rafael Bon Jr., of Slidell, LA, was not injured in the crash. Alcohol use was not a factor for Bon in this crash. Bon was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
