| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Driver Avoids Crash, Vehicle Overturns At 3:05 PM, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop A began investigating two one-vehicle crashes. Both crashes occurred on Interstate 10 eastbound, west of LA Hwy 77 in Iberville Parish. A Chevrolet Impala traveled eastbound on Interstate 10 (I-10) in the left lane and exited the roadway to the left. The Chevrolet struck a guardrail and came to rest in the middle of I-10. Several minutes later, a Freightliner, hauling scrap metal, approached the stalled Chevrolet. To avoid crashing into the Chevrolet, the driver of the Freightliner steered to the left causing the tractor-trailer to travel into the median and roll onto its side. As the Freightliner rolled over, the scrap metal in the trailer landed in the median. The driver of the Chevrolet, Katherine Theunissen (Female/31) of Baton Rouge, LA, did not sustain any injury and did not request medical attention at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner, Prentiss McPipe (Male/57) of Woodville, MS, did not sustain any injury and refused medical attention at the scene. Both drivers used a seat belt and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Troopers are allowing traffic to flow, but will closed the roadway as necessary to allow for removal of the sheet metal. For more information contact: S/T Johnnie L.
