Large Scale Marijuana Grow House discovered in Ponchatoula

Ponchatoula- A collaborative investigation by Louisiana State Police Region I Narcotic Detectives, Ponchatoula Police Department, and the DEA has led to the discovery of a large scale Marijuana indoor grow operation in Ponchatoula.

Approximately three months ago, LSP Narcotic Detectives received information that Jack Methvin (W/M age 37) of Ponchatoula was cultivating Marijuana plants at his residence. After further investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for a trailer adjacent to Methvin’s residence at 350 Methvin Drive in Ponchatoula. Upon executing the warrant, authorities discovered numerous Marijuana plants being grown with an elaborate watering and heating system. Based on the discovery, Narcotic Detectives then obtained warrants for Methvin’s residence and back yard shed where they discovered several more rooms full of plants and growing equipment.

So far through the investigation, authorities have seized approximately 1000 Marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, and several firearms. Methvin was charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and illegal possession of a firearm. He was booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite.
