Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release November 27th, 2009 Covington Resident killed in Head-On Collision Covington, LA – Today at 5:05 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatality crash on LA 1077 south of U.S. 190 in St. Tammany Parish. A 1996 Ford van, driven by Nathan Pulling Jr. (W/M age 52) of Covington, LA, was traveling south on LA 1077. A 2007 Nissan sedan, driven by Tonilynn Caronia (W/F age 49) of Folsom, LA, was traveling north on LA 1077. As the Ford van proceeded south, it drifted into the northbound lane of LA 1077 and struck the Nissan sedan head on. The driver of the Ford van was transported to St. Tammany Parish Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. Pulling was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A blood sample was obtained from Pulling and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The driver of the Nissan sedan was also transported to St. Tammany Parish Hospital with moderate injuries. Caronia was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is not suspected. A blood sample was taken from Caronia and submitted for analysis to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
