Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release October 18, 2009 Driver killed in Head-On Collision on Interstate 10 Slidell – Today at 3:28 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 in St. Tammany Parish. A 2003 Honda Accord, driven by Sarah M. Reynolds (W/F age 28) of Vancouver, WA, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 at milepost #268. A charter bus, driven by Ricardo Barrera (O/M age 46) of Mission, TX, was traveling westbound on Interstate 10. As the Honda Accord continued eastbound against oncoming westbound traffic, it ran head on into the charter bus in the center lane of I-10 westbound. The driver of the Honda Accord, Sarah M. Reynolds, was transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital by Acadian Ambulance where she later died as a result of her injuries. Reynolds was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Driver impairment is suspected for Reynolds with a toxicology analysis pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The driver of the charter bus, Ricardo Barrera, received no injuries in the crash. He was transported to the Slidell Police Department for a chemical breath test and submitted a .000g% BAC sample.
