Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release November 12, 2009 Bush Resident arrested in Fatality Crash Bush, LA – Yesterday at 08:40 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 40 at milepost #44 in St. Tammany Parish. A 1983 Ford pickup truck, driven by Ray S. Harris (W/M age 58) of Bush, LA, was backing out of a private driveway onto LA 40. A 2005 Honda VTX motorcycle, driven by Gregory Willett (W/M age 60) of Bush, LA, was traveling east on LA 40. As the Honda motorcycle proceeded eastbound, the Ford pickup backed into the eastbound lane directly into the path of the motorcycle. The Honda motorcycle then impacted the left rear of the Ford pickup truck. The driver of the Ford pickup truck was wearing his seatbelt and received no injuries in the crash. Mr. Harris submitted to the chemical breath test and registered a .077g% BAC sample. Drug use is also suspected and a urine sample was submitted for analysis to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Mr. Harris was charged with DWI 3rd offense, Vehicular Homicide, and Failure to Yield from a Private Drive and was booked accordingly into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. The driver of the Honda motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office due to injuries sustained in the crash. Mr. Willett was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and driver impairment is not suspected.
