| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release November 22, 2009 New Orleans Resident Arrested After I-10 Pursuit Slidell, LA – Today at 10:13 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L was involved in a vehicle pursuit with shots fired in St. Tammany Parish. While performing stationary radar enforcement on Interstate 10 westbound in Slidell, a Louisiana State Police Troop L trooper made a traffic stop on a 2004 Honda Civic driven by Peter L. Davis (B/M age 24) of New Orleans, LA for speeding. As the trooper exited his vehicle and ordered Davis (sole occupant) to exit, Davis fled westbound on Interstate 10 towards the LA 433 exit. As the Civic continued westbound on the interstate pursued by State Police vehicles, it crossed the center grass median and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10, nearly causing several head-on collisions with eastbound traffic. The Civic then exited the interstate on the I-10 Eastbound on ramp at Oak Harbor Blvd and proceeded east into the Lakeshore Villas subdivision. As the pursuit reached a dead end in the subdivision, troopers attempted to block in the Civic when it struck one of their vehicles and spun out of control. The trooper, whose vehicle was struck, exited his damaged vehicle and ordered the driver to stop. Davis refused and proceeded forward, nearly striking the trooper. As the trooper avoided being run over, he fired several shots at Davis’ vehicle. Davis was uninjured from the shooting and continued to flee from troopers. Upon reaching Oak Harbor Blvd., Davis struck another State Police vehicle and proceeded southbound on Oak Harbor towards Interstate 10. Before reaching the interstate, troopers and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies deployed roadway spikes, deflating the front two tires of the Honda Civic. Davis then attempted to reenter the eastbound lanes of I-10 at which time troopers forced Davis’ vehicle off the roadway where the pursuit ended and Davis was taken into custody. Davis was charged with speeding, driving left of center, reckless operation, aggravated obstruction of a highway, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, two counts of attempted first degree murder of a police officer and resisting arrest. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. Driver impairment is suspected for Davis with the results of a toxicology exam pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Deputies and officers from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Slidell Police Department assisted in the pursuit. Contact Information: Tpr.
