Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Baker and St. Francisville to Host Bike Rodeos On Saturday, June 21, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop A will collaborate with police officers, firefighters and volunteers from Baker, Baton Rouge and St. Francisville to conduct Bike Rodeos. The Bike Rodeos will take place at Redemption Life Fellowship in Baker and First Baptist Church in St. Francisville. The Bike Rodeos are open to everyone interested in learning about bicycle safety with an emphasis on children ages 5 to 14 years old. Nationally certified (IPMBA) bike patrol Officers from Department of Public Safety Police, Baton Rouge City Constables Office, Baton Rouge Police Department and/or East Baton Rouge EMS will be present at each event. Officers, firefighters and volunteers will offer bicycle safety tips and training to all participants. Free bicycle helmets, funded by LA DOTD and Safe Routes to School, will be available to the first fifty children in need of a helmet. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bicycle to participate in the short training course (a bicycle is not mandatory to receive the training or a helmet). Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and can register to win a free bicycle. Bike rodeos teach bicycle safety using a fun and educational method, but more importantly, this training can save a life. Bike rodeos scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008, are as follows:
