Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release March 22nd, 2010 Attempted Murder Suspect killed in I-12 Crash Covington – Yesterday at 05:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatality crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 12 eastbound at LA 59 in St. Tammany Parish. A 2007 Ford Expedition, driven by Daryl L. Horne (B/M age 47) of Covington, LA, was traveling east on Interstate 12. As the Expedition continued eastbound on I-12, it sideswiped an unknown 18 wheeler and ran off road to the right impacting a tree and overturning. Horne then exited his vehicle and walked onto I-12 eastbound where he was fatally struck by a 2000 Nissan Altima driven by Brenda Arseneau (W/F age 43) of Verbena, AL. Arseneau and front seat passenger, Loaeza Salomon (H/M age 42) of Houston, TX, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were transported to Northshore Hospital with serious injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected, however a blood sample was taken from Arseneau with test results pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. At the time of the crash, Horne was being investigated by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office for the stabbing of his wife and two children. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is conducting the attempted murder investigation.
