Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release March 21st, 2010 Bogalusa Man killed in Washington Parish Crash Bogalusa – Yesterday at 4:20pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash at the intersection of LA 21 and Poole Bluff Road in Washington Parish. A 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Billy Brewer (W/M age 43) of Bogalusa, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 21. A 2000 Peterbuilt 18 wheeler, driven by John Coleman (W/M age 29) of Picayune, MS, was northbound on LA 21. As the Chevrolet pickup reached the intersection of LA 21 and Poole Bluff Road, the pickup turned left onto Poole Bluff Road directly into the path of the Peterbuilt 18 wheeler. The Chevrolet pickup was then impacted on its passenger side door by the Peterbuilt. Brewer and a juvenile front seat passenger in the Chevrolet pickup truck were transported to the LSU Bogalusa Medical Center in critical condition. Upon arrival at the hospital, Brewer was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Brewer and the juvenile passenger were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is unknown at this time with a toxicology test pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Coleman was wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries in the crash. He submitted to a breath alcohol test and registered a .000g% BAC.
