Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release March 21st, 2010 Tangipahoa Resident arrested in Fatality Crash Tangipahoa – Yesterday at 7:20pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 10 milepost #212.2 west of LA 1061 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2000 Ford Taurus, driven by Linda Williams (B/F age 22) of Tangipahoa, LA, was making a left turn onto LA 10 westbound from the parking lot of the Wilmer Quick Stop. A 2007 Western Star 18 wheeler, driven by Sidney Hill (W/M age 58) of Denham Springs, LA, was eastbound on LA 10. As the Ford Taurus turned left onto LA 10, directly into the path of the 18 wheeler, it was impacted on its rear driver’s side door by the front end of the truck. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was transported to Riverside Medical Center with minor injuries. Rear driver’s side passenger, Ebony Williams (B/F age 17) of Tangipahoa, LA, was transported to Riverside Medical Center where she was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The four additional passengers in the Ford Taurus, Mary Williams (B/F age 19), Roshonda Tobias (B/F age 26), and two juvenile passengers, were not injured in the crash. All six occupants of the vehicle were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash with a blood sample from Linda Williams pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Williams was charged with Failure to Yield from a Private Drive and Negligent Homicide and booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite. Hill was wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries in the crash. He submitted to a breath alcohol test and registered a .000g% BAC.
