Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release April 5th, 2010 I-12 Crash takes Life of Laplace Resident Tangipahoa – Today at 03:56 am, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12 at milepost #52.2 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, driven by Tray A. Keys (B/M age 24) of Laplace, LA, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 12 in the left lane of travel. For an unknown reason, Keys swerved hard to the right causing the Trail Blazer to rotate clockwise and run off road to the right side of I-12 Eastbound. As the Trail Blazer left the paved roadway, it overturned and rolled several times prior to impacting a tree with its driver side door and coming to rest in the tree line. Keys was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is unknown at this time with a toxicology test pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
