| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release April 11th, 2010 Tennessee Motorcyclists killed in I-55 Crash Tangipahoa – Yesterday at 9:15 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a three vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 55 north of LA 1048 at milepost #53 in Tangipahoa Parish. A 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by David Chapman (W/M age 47) of Ashland City, TN, was traveling south on Interstate 55 in the right lane of travel. A 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Andres M. Landor (B/M age 39) of Carencro, LA, and a 2007 Dodge Magnum, driven by Steven Smith (B/M age 25) of Walker, LA, were traveling south on Interstate 55 behind the motorcycle. For an unknown reason, Chapman lost control of the motorcycle causing it to fall on its right side and slide into the center median. Both Chapman and motorcycle passenger, Cindy Conatser (W/F age 39) of Goodlettsville, TN, were ejected from the bike and fell onto the roadway coming to rest on the center line of the southbound lanes. Chapman and Conatser were then struck by the Chevrolet truck and Dodge Magnum as they lay in the roadway. Both Chapman and Conatser were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. A blood sample was taken from Chapman with results pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Landor and Smith were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected and both submitted to a breath alcohol test registering a .000g% BAC.
