Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release March 1st, 2010 Head-On Collision takes Two Lives in Washington Parish Washington Parish – Today at 5:25 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 10 at milepost #238.6 in Washington Parish. A 1982 Toyota pickup truck, driven by Joseph McNeese (W/M age 45) of Franklinton, LA, was traveling westbound on LA 10 towing a 16ft utility trailer. A 1996 GMC pickup truck, driven by Hilbert Lewis (B/M age 74) of Bogalusa, LA, was eastbound on LA 10. As the Toyota pickup continued west on LA 10 approaching the GMC, it crossed the centerline of the roadway and impacted the GMC in a head-on collision. McNeese was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s office. Alcohol and/or drug use is unknown at this time for McNeese with a toxicology test pending by the Coroner’s office. Passenger in the Toyota pickup truck, Robert McNeese (W/M age 41) of Angie, LA, was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to the LSU Medical Center in Bogalusa with serious injuries. Lewis was transported to the LSU Medical Center in Bogalusa where he died as a result of his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology test will be performed by the Washington Parish Coroner’s office. Be Prepared, Be Buckled!!
