Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release February 27th, 2010 Driver Impairment suspected in Head-On Fatality St. Helena – Today at 1:35 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 16 at milepost #36.8 in St. Helena Parish. A 1993 Chevrolet van, driven by Molly A. McMullan (W/F age 47) of Pride, LA, was traveling westbound on LA 16. A 2002 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Brian Muse (W/M age 50) of Denham Springs, LA, was eastbound on LA 16. As the Chevrolet van continued west on LA 16 approaching the Dodge pickup, it crossed the centerline of the roadway and impacted the Dodge in a head-on collision. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and were transported to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge by Acadian Air med. Muse suffered moderate injuries in the crash and alcohol use is not suspected. A blood sample was taken from Muse with results pending at Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. McMullan received severe injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Alcohol use is suspected and a blood sample was taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
