ATM Technician charged with Theft

Based on a complaint received in October 2009, Louisiana State Police Region I Detectives began an investigation into the theft of $71,000.00 in ATM funds.

Through the investigation, detectives discovered that Shayne Thomas (B/M age 28) stole approximately $71,000.00 from various ATM machines in St Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish while employed as an ATM repair technician. The thefts occurred between December 2008 and July 2009. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas in St Tammany Parish for 10 counts of Theft over $500.00 and 19 counts of Theft over $500.00 in Tangipahoa Parish. On February 26, 2010, Thomas was arrested without incident and booked in both St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish. Upon arrest, Thomas confessed to the ATM thefts.
