Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 15, 2009 Louisiana State Police/ SSA Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit Makes Identity Theft Arrest On Thursday, May 14, 2009, Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division and The Social Security Administration arrested Rex B. Williams on charges involving Identity Theft, Forgery, Criminal Mischief and Felony Possession of a Firearm. On February 13, 2006, Williams, applied for SSA disability benefits and was approved. In September of 2006, Williams began receiving his SSA benefit checks. On August 23, 2008, Williams applied for a job at the Petro Truck Stop in Hammond, LA, and was hired. The investigation revealed that Williams produced a false date of birth, and a false social security number with his employment application. The social security card was altered from its original form and was forged to display the name of “Rex Williams Jr.” and a fraudulent social security number. The investigation also revealed that outstanding warrants existed for Williams’, in both Livingston and Tangipahoa Parish. On May 13, 2009, Louisiana State Police obtained warrants for the arrest of Rex B. Williams, in Tangipahoa Parish, charging him with Identity Theft and Forgery. Louisiana State Police worked in conjunction with the Social Security Administration, to arrest Rex Williams without incident. At 10:12 am, on May 14, 2009 Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
