Excessive Speed Suspected in Fatal Crash on LA 36 in St. Tammany Parish

Yesterday, at 11:00 PM in the evening, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA 36 at milepost 16.0 in St. Tammany Parish.

A 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Jason P. Landry (W/M/age 27) of Covington, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 36. Landry’s motorcycle entered a northeast curve and the motorcycle gradually traveled off the roadway to the right. After the vehicle exited the roadway, it traveled for approximately 300 feet and impacted several small trees. Sometime during the impact, Landry was ejected from the motorcycle. Excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle, Jason P. Landry, of Covington, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Galvin of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected for Landry; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The driver was wearing an approved DOT helmet at the time of the crash.
