Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP L- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 23, 2009 Driver and Passenger Killed in Crash on LA 10 in Tangipahoa Parish Today, just after 3:00 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA 10, at North River Road in Tangipahoa Parish. At 3:01 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a fatal crash that resulted in the death of both occupants in the vehicle. A 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by Daniel D. Larkin (W/M/Age 21) of Amite, LA, was traveling eastbound on LA 10. Larkin failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway at North River Road, crossed the centerline and traveled upon and across the westbound lane. The Explorer traveled off the left side of the roadway, the driver then overcorrected to the right and traveled off the right side of the roadway impacting a pine tree. The driver of the Ford Explorer, Daniel D. Larkin, of Amite, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by Tom Terrill of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger, Derek M. Rodriguez (W/M/age 19) of Harlington, TX, was pronounced dead at the scene by Tom Terrill of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol/drugs use is unknown in the crash; blood was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Seat belts are also unknown in the crash.
